Osun: Fake Doctor Arrested by NSCDC after Pregnant Woman’s Death

On Thursday, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun State Command apprehended a fake doctor following the death of a pregnant woman during childbirth.

The suspect, identified as Oladiti Saheed, aged 32, reportedly operated a clinic named Oloruntoyin Clinic in Ororuwa town, Boripe local government area of the state for more than six years using only a secondary school certificate.

According to Kehinde Adeleke, the NSCDC spokesperson in Osun, the fake doctor was also involved in training individuals for a fee of N5000.

Upon consultation, a pregnant woman with a hypertensive condition was given drugs and an appointment by the suspect. When she began experiencing labor symptoms on April 18, 2024, she delivered a baby at his clinic but developed complications and sadly passed away shortly after being transferred to a licensed hospital.

Adeleke mentioned, “Further investigation uncovered that the suspect was also involved in mentoring individuals to become fake doctors like him, charging them Five Thousand Naira each.”

Michael Adaralewa, the NSCDC Commandant in Osun, assured that the suspect would face legal consequences once the investigation is concluded, urging the public to be cautious when seeking medical help.
