The procurement processes for drones to enhance the security setup of the Federal Capital Territory have been initiated by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
During a courtesy visit by the Consul-General of the Embassy of Hungary in Nigeria, Endre Deri, in Abuja on Thursday, Wike revealed this development.
Regarding the consul-general’s suggestion on the necessity of drones, the minister affirmed, “There is no turning back on the idea of acquiring drones.”
He assured to engage with security specialists to have a discussion with Deri concerning the suitable type of drones that would be both effective and efficient, considering the FCT’s terrain.
Security stands as a paramount focus in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, according to Wike.
Wike highlighted that the security measures implemented in the FCT have already begun to show positive outcomes, with a significant decrease in security incidents.
He added, “You can also acknowledge that Abuja is now a safer place due to our proactive approach towards addressing the security challenges.”
Prior to this, Deri expressed Hungary’s readiness to collaborate with the FCTA to enhance security within the region.
