The Community of Ugbiyoko Shows Appreciation to Obaseki for Benin Road Reconstruction

The residents and business owners in Ugbiyoko, Benin City, have expressed their gratitude towards the Edo State government for recommencing the reconstruction work on the Ekhewuan Barracks road.

The road, which has now been paved up to Ogede, has provided relief to the residents who were previously dissatisfied with its poor condition.

During a visit to the area on Wednesday, a lady named Isoken mentioned that the road’s paving has significantly improved the living standards and business opportunities in the locality.

She highlighted that people who were considering leaving the area have decided to stay, although she pointed out that the lack of proper drainage has caused occasional flooding during the rainy season this year.

According to her, “Governor Godwin Obaseki has made a commendable decision by resuming work on the road. Motorists can now travel freely without the fear of damaging their vehicles, and businesses have seen positive results since the construction resumed.”

She also added, “However, certain sections of the road lack proper drainage, resulting in localized flooding when it rains. If it’s not too late, I hope drainages can be added to reduce flooding in the area.”

James Osadolor, a building materials vendor in the vicinity, expressed his satisfaction with the improved business activity. He mentioned that individuals who had abandoned their construction projects have returned, purchasing materials to resume building.

He stated, “I’m delighted that the government has restarted work on the road. Business has flourished, and residents can now travel easily to and from their workplaces and businesses.”

He concluded, “I encourage the government to finish the road construction before the tenure ends in November so that the community in this area can thrive like other parts of the state capital.”
