Two individuals killed in another herdsmen attack on Benue community

On Sunday night, a group of men believed to be Fulani herdsmen carried out an attack on a community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, resulting in the death of two individuals.

The victims, Agness Salahu, 28, and Ademu Efugoga, 25, were reportedly ambushed between Egba and Ogbaulu communities of Agatu while returning from an event at approximately 6pm.

Barrister Napoleon Otache, a relative of the deceased, expressed dismay over the incident, highlighting the dire situation that Agatu is currently facing.

Otache criticized the absence of adequate security measures in the area, allowing the assailants to carry out violent acts without hindrance.

Stressing the urgency of the situation, he stated, “The level of insecurity in our region has reached a critical point. The federal government’s intervention is crucial as the people of Agatu and Apa are consistently threatened by the Fulani militants.”

Efforts to obtain confirmation of the incident from the Benue State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, were unsuccessful.
