Trump’s Travel Ban Now Includes UK and Ireland

The Trump administration has declared an extension of the current travel ban to include the UK and Ireland starting next week on Monday.

Previously, the White House had imposed a travel ban limited to Europe, but due to the rapid spread of Coronavirus, the U.K. and Ireland have been added to the list.

Vice President Mike Pence confirmed at a White House press briefing on Saturday morning that all travel from the United Kingdom and Ireland will be suspended, effective midnight on Monday.

The same exceptions that are part of the existing European travel restrictions will also apply to the UK and Ireland, according to Pence.

“We continue to implement the President’s vision, as you know, it’s been a brisk few days,” Pence said, highlighting the implementation of a state of emergency in the U.S. on Friday.

On a global scale, the coronavirus has infected over 132,000 individuals, with over 1,300 cases in the U.S., where officials have reported at least 38 deaths from the virus.
