The talks in Switzerland seek to consolidate the agreement signed by Washington and Tehran that opened a 60-day period to negotiate a final solution to end the war that began on February 28. Although both parties have highlighted the progress of the agreement, the situation remains conflictive due to the violence that still occurs in Lebanon and the tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
In addition, Trump has left the door open to new measures in the agreement in case the talks fail. Among these measures, Donald Trump has proposed that the United States assume greater control over the Strait of Hormuz, which would mean that the United States would keep 20% of the oil that transits through said strait.
