Donald Trump has announced new retaliation against Iran. He did so after learning that one of the United States helicopters was shot down during the early hours of this Monday in the Strait of Hormuz.
This is what the US president himself has indicated through the Truth Social network: “I have just been informed by our Armed Forces that last night the Iranians shot down one of our high-tech Apache helicopters while patrolling the Strait of Hormuz.”
Regarding the crew, Trump has confirmed that the two pilots involved in this event are “safe and sound”, but that, despite not regretting any injuries or deaths, the United States must “necessarily respond to this attack.”
This helicopter fell near the coast of Ormán, where the two soldiers on board were rescued, unharmed, by US forces during the early hours of last Monday. This same Monday, the Americans shot at an oil tanker for violating the blockade that Washington has imposed since April 13 against vessels leaving and arriving at Iranian ports.
Peace in the Middle East, increasingly distant
These events come in the midst of a series of new confrontations in this region, where Iran and Israel have been exchanging attacks for days. This has led Trump to demand this Monday an “immediate” end to the attacks, also by his Israeli ally.
The president of the United States announced this Tuesday that he could reach an agreement with Iran in “two or three days”, a new deadline that he proposes after numerous weeks of negotiations with the Islamic Republic.
