“The forces of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) began launching attacks in legitimate defense against Iran today at 5:00 p.m. (Eastern time, 11:00 p.m. Spanish peninsular time), following the instructions of the commander in chief, in response to the downing yesterday of a United States Army Apache helicopter,” he indicated on his social networks.
CENTCOM has indicated in the same message that “the mission constitutes a proportionate response to Iran’s unjustified aggression”, hours after the tenant of the White House has promised to “respond” to what he has described as an “attack” by Iranian forces.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, had warned that there would be retaliation for the Iranian attack against an AH-64 Apache helicopter carrying two soldiers who were rescued safely in “approximately two hours,” according to Washington.
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, has warned that the Army of the Islamic Republic will respond to any “attack or threat.” “Our powerful Armed Forces will not leave any attack or threat unanswered,” he published in a message on X
These events occur amid new clashes in the region, where Iran and Israel have exchanged attacks in recent days, leading Trump to demand on Monday an “immediate” end to the shooting, also by his Israeli ally.
