Tragic Incident in Ogun State Claims Two Lives

On a tragic Friday morning, a fatal accident occurred near the Idogo Junction on the Ilaro-Owode Yewa road, resulting in the loss of two lives and injury to another individual.

Reports indicate that the incident, which took place at approximately 6 am, involved a speeding Mitsubishi car with license plate JJJ168JF colliding with a truck registered as T12224LA.

In a statement provided to the press, Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the state Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the details of the accident.

According to Okpe, the Mitsubishi car, traveling at high velocity, crashed into the improperly parked truck on the road.

Efforts for rescue were promptly carried out by the FRSC Ilaro Unit Command, with the injured victims and deceased individuals being transported to General Hospital and Hosanna Hospital, Ilaro for further action.

In part, the official statement read, “The FRSC Ilaro Unit Command carried out a rescue operation on the Ilaro-Owode route around Iyana Odogo following a crash at about 0600hrs.

“The crash involved 2 vehicles; a Mitsubishi car with license plate JJJ854JH, and a truck with registration number T12224LA.

“A total of 07 individuals were involved (04 Male Adults and 03 Female Adults), with 01 female sustaining injuries and 02 male adults losing their lives in the unfortunate incident.

“The likely causes of the crash were obstruction and Speed Violation. The injured victims and deceased individuals were conveyed to General Hospital, Ilaro, and Hosanna Hospital, Ilaro.”

Okpe warned that the FRSC would initiate strict measures against motorists parking haphazardly along the roads.

Meanwhile, Anthony Uga, the Ogun Sector Commander of FRSC, expressed displeasure at the increasing trend of indiscriminate roadside parking of vehicles.

Uga directed the Corp’s Marshall to conduct routine inspections on such indiscriminate parking practices, with violators facing legal consequences for their actions.

He also advised motorists to adhere to prescribed speed limits and observe traffic regulations diligently.
