Tragic incident in Anambra as vehicle breaks free from tow truck, resulting in a woman’s death

Confirmation has been received from the Anambra State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) regarding a fatal accident at Okpoko Market along the Asaba-Onitsha Road.

Informing journalists in Awka, Sector Commander Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi disclosed that the accident involved a commercial tow truck bearing registration number XA550BMA.

According to reports from eyewitnesses, the truck was moving at an uncontrollable speed while towing a vehicle.

Tragically, the towed vehicle disconnected from the truck and collided with a woman attempting to cross the road, causing her untimely demise.

Upon the FRSC rescue team’s arrival, the deceased woman was swiftly transported to Toronto Hospital in Onitsha, where her unfortunate passing was confirmed, and her body was subsequently placed in the hospital’s mortuary.

Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, the sector commander emphasized the importance of professionalism among motorists, particularly urging tow truck drivers to adhere to safety protocols and avoid excessive speeding.
