Three arrested for impersonating soldiers in Ogun State

The Ogun State Police Command in the Agbado area of the state arrested three men wearing Army camouflage during a routine patrol on Friday, March 13. The suspects, Jacob Onebi aged 36, Olabode Oluwaseun aged 35, and Olanrewaju Adebayo aged 33, were apprehended on charges of impersonating soldiers following multiple reports from the public about their illegal activities in the area.

According to Police spokesman DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects initially claimed to be officers of the 174 Battalion Ikorodu but later confessed to being dismissed from the Nigerian army after further investigation was carried out.

Further investigation revealed that two of the suspects had been dismissed from the Nigerian army a long time ago, while the third was their friend who was co-opted into their illegal activities. The suspects, who were under close police surveillance prior to their arrest, have been transferred to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution, as directed by the state commissioner for police, Kenneth Ebrimson.
