Italy legend praises Super Eagles striker as irreplaceable talent in Europe

Giuseppe Galderisi, a former Italy international, emphasized the challenge Napoli might face in finding a replacement for Victor Osimhen.

As the season concludes, the 25-year-old is poised to depart from the Armando Maradona Stadium.

Osimhen played a crucial role in Napoli’s Serie A triumph last season by netting 26 goals.

His stellar performance has captured the interest of top European clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, PSG, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.

While names like Romelu Lukaku, Joshua Zirkzee, Viktor Gyokeres, and Jonathan David have surfaced as potential successors to the Nigerian star, Galderisi contends that Osimhen’s distinct skill set may prove challenging to replicate at the Serie A champions.

Galderisi was quoted by Calcio Napoli saying, “Scamacca is showcasing remarkable talent this season, but he possesses a different style compared to Osimhen. Osimhen effortlessly converts the service he receives into goals.”

He added, “The upcoming European Championship will be pivotal for Osimhen to showcase his impact in high-stakes competitions.

“However, the risk of substituting Osimhen with Scamacca is substantial. Osimhen moves fluidly, displaying impeccable timing and speed that makes him a formidable force to catch up with.

“I would have credited him with the second goal against Udine as a commendation of his performance. Another player like Osimhen is hard to come by in Europe, so Napoli’s future plans must be considered carefully.”
