The United States has recognized Venezuelan presidential opposition candidate, Edmundo González, as president-elect after his victory in the presidential elections against the current Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro.
“The Venezuelan people spoke out forcefully on July 28 and named Edmundo González president-elect. Democracy requires respect for the will of the voters“, the Secretary of the State Department, Antony Blinken, stressed in a brief message on the social network X.
