This new United Nations report speaks of “indiscriminate attacks” and concludes that there are “reasonable grounds” to believe that the Trump Administration committed war crimes in at least two bombings since February 28: the most serious, against the Minab primary school hit by Tomahawk missiles that left more than 150 dead, most of them students. The school was a few meters from the naval base of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. And the other against a sports center in the southern city of Lamerd – with around twenty deaths – and in which it is reported that a tungsten missile was used with hundreds of thousands of pellets inside that aggravated the destruction.
United Nations apportions blame between Washington and Tehran
In addition, the text, which will be presented to the UN Human Rights Council, accuses Tehran of possible crimes against humanity during the protests at the beginning of the year that left more than 2,000 dead, 200 of them minors. And always the same pattern: the Iranian authorities used tear gas before shooting at point-blank range.
And finally, the UN points out that the blockade of mobile phones and the internet (for 5 months) prevented the dissemination of information and hindered the coordination of emergency services.
