Marius Borg Høiby already has a sentence from Judge Jon Sverdrup Efjestad of the Oslo Court. He has been found guilty of two rapes without penetration, in addition to a crime of mistreatment of one of his ex-girlfriends, the influencer Nora Haukland.
On the other hand, the judge has declared him innocent of the other two rapes of which he was accused and for which the Prosecutor’s Office requested a total of seven years and seven months in prison. Marius, the result of Mette-Marit’s relationship prior to her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, has been in the eye of the storm for years.
Almost 40 accumulated crimes
The news has a strong impact on the Norwegian Royal House, since the son of Princess Mette-Marit accumulated 39 crimes for various reasons, including transporting marijuana, threats and the rapes and mistreatment already mentioned.
Public television NRK has reported that the sentence that the former member of the Norwegian monarchy must serve will be four years in prison. Høiby has also been sentenced to joint compensation of 640,000 Norwegian crowns (about 58,000 euros) to four victims.
Høiby, 29, has been in pretrial detention since February 2, a day before the start of the trial, when he was arrested for new crimes, including breaking a ban on visiting one of the victims.
For its part, the young man’s defense requested acquittal of the most serious accusations and accepted a lesser sentence of one year and six months for the charges he has admitted. Furthermore, Høiby has previously admitted to having problems with alcohol and other drugs, as well as suffering from psychological disorders.
