The Senate Plans to Reassess Ningi’s Suspension, Says Akpabio

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, has announced that Senator Abdul Ningi is being considered for a recall from his three-month suspension.

During a press interaction upon his return from the Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, Akpabio made this revelation.

Akpabio mentioned that the Senate will soon revisit the three-month suspension imposed on Ningi for his claims of a N3.7 trillion padding in the 2024 budget.

It is pertinent to note that recently, Ningi, through a letter from his counsel, Femi Falana SAN, had formally requested his reinstatement in the Senate.

Akpabio highlighted that while he hasn’t seen the letter yet, the issue will be resolved internally, just like a family matter.

He expressed, “It is a parliamentary decision. I have not seen the letter yet. But Senator Ningi is one of us. I mean, what is suspension?”
