Plans to Review Suspension of Senator Ningi in Budget Padding Controversy by Senate, says Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has indicated that Senator Abdul Ningi’s three-month suspension will be revisited by the Senate.

Addressing reporters upon his return from the Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, Akpabio made this revelation.

Akpabio stated that the Senate is gearing up to reconsider the three-month suspension imposed on Ningi, who had alleged that the 2024 budget was padded with N3.7 trillion.

It is worth noting that in a letter from Femi Falana SAN, Ningi had formally requested to be reinstated to the Senate last Thursday.

While noting that he hadn’t yet seen the letter, Akpabio stressed that the issue will be resolved internally, like a family matter.

He commented, “It is a parliamentary decision. I have not seen the letter yet. But Senator Ningi is one of us. I mean, what is suspension?”
