The role of Kogi governor, Ododo in helping Yahaya Bello avoid EFCC arrest

Evading arrest by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was made possible for embattled former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, with the assistance of the current governor, Usman Ododo, on Wednesday.

Arriving at the ex-governor’s residence, Ododo was accompanied by heavy security personnel around 2:30 pm.

Two hours later, precisely at 4:20 pm, Ododo left with Yahaya Bello in the governor’s car.

Following the departure of the governor and former governor, EFCC operatives, who had surrounded Bello’s home on Benghazi street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, retreated about 10 minutes later.

About 20 minutes after the withdrawal of EFCC operatives, police officers, Department of State Security operatives, Counter Terrorism Unit operatives, and other security agents guarding Bello’s house also departed.

A source, speaking anonymously, confirmed the events to our correspondent, stating, “The former governor has left. He departed with the governor, Ododo, who just drove out now with his security guards.”

Meanwhile, an undisclosed EFCC source mentioned, “Bello has absconded with the Kogi State Governor, Ododo. Our operatives were unable to prevent the governor from leaving.”

Previously, NewsNow had reported that officers of the Nigeria Police Force and unidentified armed individuals wearing black with the label “Special Forces,” obstructed EFCC operatives in an attempt to apprehend Bello at his residence in Abuja.

EFCC operatives had made a move on Bello’s residence on Benghazi street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, around 9:30 pm on Wednesday.

However, our correspondent closely witnessed how EFCC operatives were impeded by police and other armed individuals guarding the ex-governor, preventing them from entering the premises.
