The issuance of certificates of return to winners of Bayelsa LGA polls by BYSIEC

Winners of the April 6 Local Government Area elections in Bayelsa State received their certificates of return from the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission, BYSIEC, on Monday.

At the NUJ Press Centre in Yenagoa, certificates were handed to the elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the 8 Local Government Councils, all representing the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Dr. Peter Singabele, the Chairman of BYSIEC, highlighted that this event signifies the completion of BYSIEC’s duty in the 2024 election cycle by issuing certificates of return.

He emphasized, “After receiving your certificate and being sworn in, you can officially begin operations as the elected Chairmen of your respective council areas, serving as the grassroots’ third tier of government.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the elected Chairmen, Bulodisiye Ndiwara, the Chairman-elect of Yenagoa LGA, commended BYSIEC for conducting a successful and seamless election process.

In recognition of the party’s support, he congratulated PDP supporters and the people of Bayelsa for their votes.

Mrs. Alice Allen Tangi, the first female Chairman-elect of Sagbama LGA, pledged to enhance governance and outreach to all communities in the area.

She outlined her focus on agriculture, human capacity development, and prioritizing education funding in Sagbama LGA.

“There are numerous opportunities available to us as a community, and I am dedicated to ensuring we seize them for mutual benefit. During my tenure, the empowerment of the girl child will be a focal point. We will promote agriculture by encouraging all to engage in farming and provide ample support to our farmers,” she affirmed.
