According to the registrar of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, efforts are underway to track the health status of a former student who was wounded in a recent shooting incident in the town. The disclosure was made by Kayode Ogunleye in a statement released on Thursday.
Recent reports revealed that a fatal clash occurred at a club in Ogbomoso a few days ago, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. LAUTECH has confirmed that one of the individuals hurt during the incident is a former student, Iyanda Femi Israel, a graduate of the Department of Management and Accounting.
The statement clarified that the deceased individual was not affiliated with the university. The university’s management is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of its staff and students.
The statement emphasized, “The university management has thoroughly investigated the recent shooting incident outside the university premises that occurred on April 23, 2024. It has been confirmed that the injured ex-student, Iyanda Femi Israel, received prompt medical attention after sustaining a gunshot wound during the club altercation. The reported fatality was not associated with the university.”
LAUTECH is vigilantly monitoring the health of the injured ex-student and has urged staff and students to maintain peace on campus while conducting their activities lawfully.
