12 persons were killed and one injured in the early hours of Thursday at Kulben village of Kombun District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau, by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen.   According to DSP Terna Tyopev, the Plateau Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday. He stated, “In the early hours of today, we received a distress call that gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen attacked Kulben community of Kombun District of Mangu. On Thursday, January 9, a tragic incident unfolded in Kulben village of Kombun District in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau as gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen, attacked and killed 12 residents of the community.    The state's police spokesperson, DSP Terna Tyopev, confirmed the attack which also left one resident of the community injured. Two young men from Gangare community in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State lost their lives due to charcoal smoke, as they tried to keep warm during the cold weather on Saturday. The victims, 25-year-olds Saminu Idris and Idris Dahiru, were preparing to sleep by burning charcoal in their room when the tragedy occurred around 12:30 am. They are believed to have suffocated from inhaling toxic smoke emitted by the burning charcoal. A family member confirmed the incident and urged residents to avoid using charcoal in sleeping rooms.
