On Thursday, January 9, a tragic incident unfolded in Kulben village of Kombun District in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau as gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen, attacked and killed 12 residents of the community.
The state’s police spokesperson, DSP Terna Tyopev, confirmed the attack which also left one resident of the community injured. He mentioned that a team of police officers had been deployed to the community to prevent further attacks.
In his words;
“As a result, 12 persons lost their lives and one severely injured.
“Immediately we received the information, the commissioner in charge of the command, Mr Isaac Akinmoyede, directed the DCP in charge of Operations, Mr Aliyu Tafida, to mobilize to the scene.
“As I speak, our team of detectives and other officers are in the scene of the crime to prevent further attacks.”
Tyopev also disclosed that no arrests have been made and called on the general public to remain calm, assuring that efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of this tragic act have been intensified.
