Plateau State Governor Condemns Attack on Kombun and Vows Punishment for Perpetrators

Following an assault by gunmen on Kulben village in Kombun district of Mangu LGA, occurring on Wednesday 8th January 2020, Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, has vehemently condemned the killing of innocent individuals.

In a statement signed by Dr. Makut Simon Macham ANIPR, the Director of Press & Public Affairs, the Governor expressed his strong disapproval of the attack, labeling it as an attempt to undermine the gradually returning peace in the State.

Lalong, while extending his sympathies to the victims and their families, issued a warning that his administration will not tolerate any individual or group instigating chaos, threatening to revert the State to its insecure past.

“We have worked tirelessly to restore peace in Plateau State and we will not permit anyone to undermine our efforts. We are resolute in dealing decisively and sternly with anyone found guilty of perpetrating or inciting attacks against one another,” he asserted.

He commended the security agencies for apprehending 7 suspects linked to the killings and restoring normalcy in the area. Lalong guaranteed that thorough investigations will be conducted to ascertain the truth, with offenders facing the full force of the law.

The Governor urged for calm and cautioned against retaliatory actions as the Government is taking charge of the situation. The injured have been transported to the general hospital in Mangu and are showing signs of recovery.
