Amid Royal Crisis, Kensington Palace Reveals New Portrait of Kate Middleton on her 38th Birthday

Kensington Palace has released a beautiful new portrait of the Duchess of Cambridge in celebration of her 38th birthday. This comes in the midst of the ongoing royal crisis sparked by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step down from their royal roles.

The image, captured by photographer Matt Porteous, features the future Queen wearing a £130 Fjallraven ‘Ovik’ Re-Wool Sweater and jeans, posing at her Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, in September 2018.

The portrait was shared on the Kensington Royal Instagram page, accompanied by a message expressing gratitude for the birthday wishes extended to the Duchess.

‘Thank you, everyone, for all your lovely messages on The Duchess of Cambridge’s birthday!’

This release follows the surprising announcement made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the eve of the Duchess of Cambridge’s birthday, declaring their intention to step back as ‘senior royals’, pursue financial independence, and split their time between the UK and North America while walking away from Royal funds.
