Successful Police Intervention in Foiling Kidnapping Attempts and Rescuing Victims in Katsina


Two separate kidnapping attempts were foiled by police officers from the Katsina Police Command in Faskari and Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State. These incidents took place on May 8th and 9th, 2024.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, reported that the first incident occurred when a group of criminals blocked the Funtua-Gusau Road near Unguwar Boka village, Faskari LGA, Katsina, on May 8th, 2024.

They targeted three passengers traveling in a Golf III motor vehicle, using gunfire to stop the vehicle. Fortunately, a rapid response patrol team intervened swiftly, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Faskari, engaging the bandits in a gunfight and rescuing the passengers unharmed.

In another incident on May 9th at 12:45 am, the Katsina Police responded to a distress call in Gidan-Maga village, Malumfashi. Armed bandits had kidnapped ten residents and stolen sixteen cows. The DPO of Malumfashi mobilized officers, leading a successful operation that resulted in the release of the kidnapped victims and recovery of the stolen cows after a fierce gun battle with the bandits.

CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, praised the officers for their courage and professionalism during both operations. He reiterated the commitment of the Command to ensuring the safety and security of the people in Katsina State.
