Refrain from hasty judgments on Finidi post Ghana, Mali matches, urges Adepoju

Vocal ex-international, Mutiu Adepoju, continues to advocate for Finidi George to be appointed as the permanent head coach of the Super Eagles.

Finidi recently led the team in friendly matches against Ghana and Mali.

While the former African champions managed to secure a 2-1 victory over Ghana, they suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss to Mali.

Amid ongoing debates on who should take over from the former coach, Jose Peseiro, Adepoju has reiterated his endorsement for Finidi to clinch the Super Eagles’ top job permanently.

“Having overseen just two games, Finidi’s current record of one win and one loss is fairly reasonable,” Mutiu shared with Flashscore.

“There is ample room for growth. I have strong belief that these Super Eagles will flourish under his guidance if he is appointed.

“It would be unfair to assess Finidi solely based on our defeat against Mali. Did Jose Peseiro win every game during his tenure as the team’s coach? Finidi deserves our support so he can develop the confidence needed to build on our current foundation.”

The Nigeria Football Federation is set to announce the new head coach for the Super Eagles in the coming month.
