Ramadan Unites Christians, Muslims, and Hindus in IFTAR Meal and Prayer against Banditry and Kidnapping

Breaking boundaries of faith and coming together in unity, Christians and Hindus graciously provided food for Muslims during the Iftar meal in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

Encouraging the Muslim community, they emphasized the significance of praying for the nation amidst the prevalent security challenges such as banditry, kidnapping, and economic difficulties.

600 IFTAR meals were generously served to Muslims at the Jos Central Mosque (400 plates) and Jos Fibre Mosque (200 plates) by a Catholic Priest, Baptist Reverend, and ISKCON Hindu Priest.

Rev. John Hayab, the Country Director of Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, along with partners from Church and Society Kaduna and International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON Jos), highlighted the purpose of their visit, stating, “It is to express solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters during the Ramadan season and to emphasize our shared humanity under the divine guidance.”

He stressed the importance of respecting, supporting, and loving one another to counteract negative influences that seek to sow discord among people.

His Grace Salika Dasa, from the Hare Krishna Movement Temple (ISKCON Jos), echoed similar sentiments by emphasizing that regardless of religious affiliations, all individuals are interconnected as part of a divine creation.

He underscored the fundamental principle of recognizing each other as siblings in a shared human experience, fostering a sense of unity and brotherhood.

In continuation of the spirit of solidarity, Rev. Fr. Onuh Sixtus from the Church and Society Secretariat in Kaduna urged collective prayers for the nation to overcome the challenges posed by banditry and kidnapping.

Representing the Muslim Ummah, Danjuma Khalid, a Director from JNI Jos, expressed gratitude for the demonstration of love and support, encouraging ongoing prayers for national peace amidst the prevalent security threats and economic adversities.

This act of unity and compassion transcending religious boundaries serves as a powerful reminder of the shared values of love, respect, and solidarity that bind humanity together in times of need.
