Police in Jigawa arrest kidnappers who murdered victim after receiving N3m ransom

Members of a kidnapping gang in Jigawa State were apprehended by the police for killing a victim despite receiving a ransom of N3 million.

Confirmation of this development was made by the spokesperson of the Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, on Thursday.

Adam revealed that the gang’s 56-year-old leader, Adamu Bello, who had been on the run, was captured in Maimari village, Yobe State. He was arrested for his involvement in a case of criminal conspiracy, abduction, and culpable homicide of Abdullahi Adamu from Musari village in Guri LGA.

The incident occurred on 24/06/2023 around 0120hrs when a group of around twelve unidentified individuals armed with guns and dangerous weapons stormed Adamu’s residence and abducted him.

Upon receiving the report, detectives from the State Intelligence Department Dutse (SID) swiftly initiated a discreet investigation, leading to the arrest of four suspects.

The detained individuals include Buba A. Abdul, Bello Mallam, Adamu Dahiru, and Mamman Bille.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to colluding with Adamu Bello to commit the crime. They also admitted to murdering the victim after acquiring the N3 million ransom.
