Physician attends to Nnamdi Kanu while in DSS custody – Ejimakor

Visiting DSS custody, the personal doctor of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has been given permission to examine him, according to Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor. The process to make this happen commenced last year.

Ejimakor mentioned that the legal team had engaged with the IPOB leader and conveyed a message of unwavering commitment. Discussing the recent development, he shared, “Today marks a significant milestone as a competent doctor chosen by Onyendu #MNK finally had the opportunity to meet and evaluate him, overcoming hurdles faced since last year when this initiative should have been executed. The formidable #MnkLegalTeam also held discussions with MNK today. Despite the challenges, perseverance is key.”

In the past, Ejimakor had criticized DSS operatives for obstructing Kanu from consulting an independent medical expert. During his previous court appearance, the IPOB leader expressed concerns about battling congestive cancer, highlighting the lack of seriousness by the DSS towards his health condition.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement on Friday, Ejimakor condemned the Nigerian army’s decision to release over 300 Boko Haram suspects. The attorney deemed it contradictory for security forces to imprison an individual advocating for a sovereign state while freeing terrorism suspects.

A few days ago, the Defence Headquarters announced the handover of 313 Boko Haram suspects to the Borno State government, as directed by the Federal High Court. Reacting to this development, Ejimakor remarked, “The Army’s actions are paradoxical as they pursue an individual seeking autonomy while freeing HUNDREDS of terrorists in the same timeframe. This disparity underscores the grave injustice contributing to the prolonged detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”
