Fuel Scarcity Causes Stranded Passengers in Kaduna

Stranded were the passengers heading to work on Thursday due to the fuel scarcity gripping Kaduna State.

Those lucky enough to secure buses had to fork out twice the usual transport fares to reach their destinations.

A noticeable sight in Kaduna metropolis was the closure of some filling stations, while the open ones were jam-packed as drivers fought to purchase fuel.

One of the passengers at Kakuri bus stop, Mr. James Onoja, disclosed that he had been at the station since 6 am but failed to catch a bus bound for town.

Similarly, a nursing mother named Mrs. Salamatu Joseph, en route to Central Market, expressed frustration after waiting for over three hours without finding a bus, deciding it was best to return home.

“I’ve spent three hours at Sabon Tasha bus stop waiting for a bus. The only one that arrived demanded double the fare. I cannot afford it. I prefer going back home to rest today,” she remarked.

Another traveler, Joseph Ala, mentioned paying N400 instead of N200 for the journey from Kakuri to Ahmadu Bello Way.

Additionally, Mrs. Jospehine Magret, who boarded a bus from Goni Gora to Kaduna Central Market, shared that she had to pay N500 instead of N250.

Petroleum officials in the state were unavailable for any comments.
