Mother faces prison for saving her children from a house fire instead of portrait of North Korea's leaders
A mother in North Korea is at risk of imprisonment for rescuing her two children from a house fire and allowing portraits of the country's former leaders to perish in the process.
The woman is under investigation by the country's Ministry of State Security following a fire incident in Onsong County, North Hamgyong Province. The fire occurred in a home shared by two families near the Chinese border.
During the incident, both sets of parents were out, but upon noticing smoke, they hurried back to save their families. Unfortunately, in the process of rescuing their loved ones, one set of portraits was destroyed.
