Tragic Fire Outbreak Claims the Lives of Three Siblings in Ibadan

The residents of Ibadan, Oyo state are mourning the loss of three children in a devastating fire that broke out in the early hours of January 3rd.   Reports indicate that the family lived in an apartment in the Ehin Grammar Area of Molete, Ibadan. The parents, known as Iya Ara and her husband, had left for work, leaving the children locked inside the house. Tragically, the fire spread rapidly and the children were unable to escape.   The oldest child, named Glory, was a secondary school student, while the other two were in primary school.   This morning, the police arrived at the scene and removed the charred bodies of the children to the morgue.

EFCC gets court order to detain Shehu Sani for 14 days

The court authorizes the EFCC to detain Shehu Sani for 14 days The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has obtained a court order to detain Shehu Sani, the former Senator representing Kaduna Central, for a period of 14 days.   Sani was accused of extorting Sani Dauda, the owner of ASD Motors, by allegedly demanding $10,000 in November 2019. Additionally, he allegedly promised to pass the money on to EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu. Sani was also accused of soliciting N4m to be given to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko, concerning a case he allegedly claimed would not progress further.   According to the anti-graft agency, the 14-day detention order against Shehu Sani will facilitate a thorough investigation into the case.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, caused panic at a Lagos hotel last night when he got stuck inside the elevator with his wife and entourage. They were on their way to see the Queen Moremi stage play when the elevator doors closed and it malfunctioned. The king and his entourage were trapped for almost 30 minutes, causing panic at the hotel. They were eventually evacuated from the basement of the hotel. There was a mild drama at the Lagos Continental hotel when the Ooni of Ife and his entourage got stuck inside the elevator. The monarch had gone there to see the Queen Moremi play. Fulani herdsmen in Oyo State take legal action against the anti-grazing law

Fulani herdsmen in Oyo State, operating under the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria, have filed a lawsuit against the Oyo State Government, its House of Assembly, and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Oyo State, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo. They allege a serious violation of their fundamental rights.   Represented by Professor Yusuf Dankofa in the legal action, the herdsmen are seeking for the Oyo State High Court to invalidate the law that they claim unfairly targets them.
