Ola Aina Unfazed by Nottingham Forest’s Unsuccessful Deduction Appeal

Nottingham Forest’s four-point deduction appeal for violating financial regulations did not bother Ola Aina, as per his recent comments.

The charges against Forest were brought in January for exceeding the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) threshold by £34.5m for the evaluation period ending 2022/23.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team became the second Premier League club to suffer penalties for PSR violations after Everton’s 10-point deduction in November, which was later reduced to six after an appeal.

Currently positioned 17th, Nottingham Forest is merely three points ahead of the relegation area with just two games left.

Aina, however, mentioned that the team’s primary focus remains on securing their top-tier status.

“I’m not particularly concerned about it, to be honest. Our focus has always been on our objectives, which involve approaching games and earning points regardless,” Aina revealed to BBC Sport.

“Clarity before the season ends could be considered advantageous, but the atmosphere within the club suggested that it had already been disregarded, especially among the players. We didn’t discuss or dwell on it – our attention was on accumulating points as usual.

“Having control in our hands feels satisfying. We can dictate that. I don’t believe there’s nervousness; the lads relish the challenge. I personally enjoy going onto the field and striving for success. That’s the beauty of football.

“Achieving Premier League survival would be marvelous, and I am confident we will succeed. Securing that bit of relief, whether it’s this week or the next, would be fantastic.”

Up next, Forest will confront Aina’s former team Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday.
