Daddy Freeze Slams Mike Bamiloye Over His Comment On The Virus

Media personality Daddy Freeze has reacted to Evangelist Mike Bamiloye’s take on Coronavirus spread in Africa. Mike Bamiloye had stated that the reason the virus is not so much in Africa is that people pray and fast. Freeez has now responded to Bamiloye’s comment, calling it an unscholarly one and asking why fasting and prayer did not end Lassa Fever or poverty. In his words; ”Dear @mikebamiloye, I find it unscholarly of you to make such a vacuous post about something so sensitive. Really? Our prayers???? If this makes sense to you then I’m worried! Why didn’t prayer and fasting prevent Lassa fever?🙄 How have our prayers helped in reducing poverty? Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world, with more than double the extreme poverty figures of China where the Corona virus 🦠 emana...

You don’t have good friends – Soyinka slams Ganduje over Sanusi’s dethronement as Emir of Kano

Renowned playwright and Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has criticized Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State for the dethronement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano. Soyinka described Ganduje's actions as a travesty of justice, comparing it to authoritarianism and the repudiated colonial order. Soyinka recounted a similar scenario in Ogun State where a governor was set to dethrone a monarch, but was halted by the intervention of concerned friends. He lamented that Governor Ganduje did not have such friends to dissuade him from his actions. In supporting Sanusi, Soyinka praised the dethroned Emir as a great reformer who significantly impacted the banking sector during his tenure as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He also lauded Sanusi for his efforts in comba...

Renowned playwright and Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has denounced Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State for the dethronement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano.   Soyinka labeled Ganduje's action as an "innate travesty of justice, at a par with the repudiated colonial order and synonymous with authoritarianism of the crudest temper."   Reflecting on a similar scenario in Ogun State, where a monarch was almost removed before a friend intervened, Soyinka suggested that Governor Ganduje lacks good friends.   In a statement, Soyinka recounted, "I was a participant, albeit on the sidelines, when a similar scenario began to unfold in my own state, Ogun some years ago. The then governor, on account of an imagined slight by one of the monarchs in his domain, was actually ...

England rugby star Joe Marler banned for 10 weeks after inappropriate contact with Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones

England rugby player Joe Marler has been given a 10-week suspension for inappropriate contact with Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones during the recent Six Nations match at Twickenham.   The independent citing commissioner, at a disciplinary hearing in Dublin, ruled that Marler's actions violated the spirit of good sportsmanship.   Marler was found to have committed an offense of "grabbing, twisting or squeezing" Jones’s genitals in an incident during the first half of England’s 33-30 victory.     Under World Rugby rules, the ban for such an offense is 12 weeks. However, considering mitigating factors such as his "good character" and showing "remorse," the committee reduced the ban. Nevertheless, an additional week was added due to Marler's...

Nigeria cited by the WHO as a country effectively tackling Coronavirus (video)

The World Health Organization has acknowledged Nigeria's effective handling of the coronavirus. This recognition comes in the wake of the WHO declaring the virus a "pandemic". At a press conference in Geneva, Michael Ryan, head of the WHO Emergencies Programme, commended Nigeria's rapid response to the virus after confirming its first case. He lauded the country for setting up a 100-bed isolation unit within 48 hours of the confirmation. However, Ryan also highlighted the unequal development of isolation and clinical support in different countries. Nigeria has only recorded two cases of the virus so far, with the first patient on the path to recovery and potential discharge. Below is a video clip providing further insight into this acknowledgment by the WHO: Nigeria cited by WHO as a c...
