Uganda Imposes Travel Restrictions on 16 Countries Due to Coronavirus Concerns

Restrictions on visitors from countries with high coronavirus cases, such as China, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, South Korea, and Spain, have been implemented by the Ugandan government.

The country’s health minister, Jane Ruth Aceng, stated, “Government has decided to ask travelers from the affected countries not to come to Uganda because the high cases they are reporting can easily be imported into the country.”

The Health Ministry’s revised advisory, released on Wednesday, expanded the list of high-risk countries from 7 to 16, now including the United States and the UK, as well as the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Austria, and Malaysia.

Travelers from these restricted countries are advised to contemplate postponing non-essential travel to Uganda.

In the revised advisory, the health minister also mentioned that individuals from these countries who insist on visiting Uganda will be required to undergo a 14-day self-quarantine at their own expense, either at home or in a government facility.
