Blackface believes Plantashun Boiz reunion is unlikely

In a recent statement, former Plantashun Boiz group member and popular dancehall singer Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, better known as Blackface, expressed doubt about the group’s potential reunion.

During the late 1990s to the mid-2000s, Plantashun Boiz, consisting of Blackface, 2Face (2Baba), and Faze, was a prominent force in the Nigerian music industry. After disbanding in 2004 and briefly reuniting in 2007, the group once again parted ways.

Blackface, in an interview with Channels TV, emphasized that the chances of a reunion were slim, stating that if it were possible, the members would have already discussed it. He remarked, “I don’t see that [Plantashun Boiz reunion] happening. If it is something that would have happened, the members would have deemed it fit to sit down and discuss going forward. Of which they haven’t done and don’t want to do. I don’t want to cajole someone into doing what they don’t want to do.”

Regarding his relationship with his former bandmates, Blackface mentioned, “I talk to Faze and I talk to brothers of Innocent Idibia [2Baba]. His family are all my friends. But personally me and him we have nothing to discuss. It has to be business. There is no need waiting for who is not ready to be committed to a project.”
