Akinterinwa, the Ondo APC governorship aspirant, finally decides to respond to EFCC’s summons

Wale Akinterinwa, an All Progressives Congress (APC) contender for the governorship position in Ondo State, has confirmed his intention to attend the invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday.

According to reports by NewsNow, Akinterinwa, who competed against 15 others for the party’s gubernatorial ticket last weekend, was called in by the anti-corruption agency in relation to financial mismanagement.

Prior reports suggested that the EFCC was looking into allegations against Akinterinwa for supposedly mishandling billions of Naira while serving as the Commissioner for Finance during the administration of the late Rotimi Akeredolu.

It was mentioned in the report that he had previously been asked by the EFCC to provide clarifications on certain accusations but had claimed to be “too occupied” to attend to the summons.

However, in a recent statement on his verified social media account, Akinterinwa stated, “Today, I am set to honor the EFCC’s request to provide further insights on certain matters that require clarification.”

“I have faith in the capabilities of the anti-corruption agency to carry out a comprehensive investigation and guarantee that justice is served”.
