NSCDC arrests suspected vandals and individual with counterfeit currency in Bauchi


In Bauchi, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) State Command has apprehended and showcased seven individuals believed to be involved in vandalizing petroleum pipelines and rail tracks. Additionally, one person was caught in possession of counterfeit dollar bills. These suspects were captured from various locations across the state.

During the parade of the suspects at the Command Headquarters, State Commandant Ilelaboye Oyejide mentioned that five of them were accused of vandalizing petroleum pipelines, two were linked to vandalizing railway components, while the other was found with fake dollar notes. Oyejide stated that the arrests were made based on actionable intelligence and that the suspects would face legal charges after thorough investigations.

“Our team received information indicating the vandalism of railway sleepers at Dangubi village along the Gombe road. Following this, we swiftly moved to the area and successfully nabbed two suspects, Musa Gambo aged 20 and Mohammed Musa also aged 20. We are currently investigating the case and will ensure they are prosecuted accordingly,” he explained.

Furthermore, Oyejide informed about another group of suspects involved in the vandalism of petroleum products at Kengari village along Gombe road in Bauchi State. These suspects were handed over to the NSCDC by the Nigerian Army of Artillery, Bauchi State.

Recovered items from the suspects included four motorcycles, 25 liters of petroleum, and ten empty jerry cans. Oyejide mentioned that the suspects were apprehended while in the act of siphoning the petroleum product.

In a separate case, an individual was caught with 2000 fake dollars at his residence following a tip-off provided by a woman who had previously received counterfeit 100-dollar bills from him.

Oyejide issued a warning to those contemplating vandalism of national infrastructure, emphasizing that such actions will not go unpunished under his watch.
