North Central APC Urges State Party Chairmen to Distance Themselves from Ganduje’s Endorsement

In a recent development, the North-Central All Progressive Congress (APC) Forum has issued a directive to state chairmen of the party in the region to disassociate themselves from the vote of confidence given to the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The forum expressed that the endorsement of Ganduje by the state chairmen is not in the best interest of the North-Central region or the party as a whole.

Speaking to journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, the Chairman of the North Central APC Forum, emphasized that the region, along with various APC leaders, has been advocating for the zoning of the National Chairmanship position to the North Central due to its significant contributions to the party’s progress and victories in the 2023 elections.

Zazzaga, who also served on the Presidential Campaign Council in the last election, highlighted the North Central’s substantial support for the APC, noting that the region has delivered five out of six governors for the party, excluding Plateau State which is under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While stressing their commitment to securing the National Chairmanship position for the North Central, Zazzaga urged the state party chairmen to refrain from aligning with any decisions that may undermine the region’s interests.

He clarified that their stance is not about personal sentiments towards Ganduje but rather about advocating for the rightful representation and recognition of the North Central within the party.

Therefore, he called on party members, chieftains, and governors from the North Central to unite in supporting their quest for the National Chairmanship position and to encourage the state chairmen to prioritize the region’s aspirations.

If the state chairmen fail to heed this call, Zazzaga warned of potential mass protests in all North Central states to assert their demand for fair representation within the party leadership.
