NEITI Shows Progress in Industry Reports for 2022-2023, States Agency

The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has announced significant advancements in the preparation of the 2022-2023 industry reports for the oil, gas, and mining sectors.

Assuring that the process is currently underway nationwide, NEITI states that it will be completed within the next five months.

In a briefing with journalists, Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, the Executive Secretary of NEITI, revealed that the report is being overseen by two indigenous independent administrators.

Dr. Orji explained that NEITI has implemented its automated information-gathering infrastructure, known as The NEITI Audit Management System (NAMS), to ensure data integrity and enhance overall quality of the report.

Regarding the solid minerals sector, the data collection focuses on various aspects including the regulatory framework, fiscal regime, government entity responsibilities and reforms, as well as laws and regulations aimed at combating corruption risks within the solid mineral industry.

The independent administrators have been tasked with providing observations and recommendations to support policy formulation and positively impact Nigeria’s oil, gas, and mining sectors.
