The All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State has instructed the state House of Assembly to promptly begin the process of impeaching Governor Siminialayi Fubara.

A statement to this effect was made on Tuesday by the Rivers caretaker committee, CTC of the party, under the leadership of Tony Okocha, in Port Harcourt.

In a recent development, the governor strongly criticized the Assembly led by Martin Amaewhule, stating that the lawmakers no longer hold the status of legislators in the eyes of the law.

Fubara also mentioned that he agreed to a peace agreement initiated by President Bola Tinubu, in response to the political crisis that rocked the state last year, as a gesture for peace and stability.

The Governor acknowledged that his differences with his former political mentor, Nyesom Wike, prompted his participation in reconciliation meetings.

In response to the governor’s comments, the Rivers State APC caretaker committee called for measures to remove the governor from office.
