Manchester City’s Weakness Exposed by Clichy

Gael Clichy, a former Manchester City defender, has highlighted Pep Guardiola’s team’s vulnerability ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash with Arsenal this Sunday.

In addition, Clichy emphasized the threat posed by Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli from the Arsenal squad.

This weekend, Arsenal will be taking on the Premier League champions in an away match at the Etihad Stadium.

“Taking a defensive approach and allowing Manchester City to control the ball would be a big mistake for Mikel Arteta,” remarked Clichy in an interview with Super 6.

Clichy expressed his belief that Arsenal cannot afford to lose on Sunday. While a draw would still keep them ahead of City in the standings, he doubts whether a single point would be enough against such a formidable team.

“I see Arsenal as the one club capable of keeping pace with City over the past decade. The weakness in Manchester City’s gameplay is their tendency to lose possession, especially on the second ball, and being vulnerable during transitions,” Clichy pointed out.

He added, “Players like Saka and Martinelli have the ability to exploit City’s vulnerabilities during transitions. Utilizing the space behind the ball and maintaining control could hold the key to success. Arsenal seems well-equipped to visit City and secure a positive result.”
