Labour Party Denies Knowledge of Ejiofor-led BoT

Denying the existence of any Board of Trustees (BoT) led by Comrade SOZ Ejiofor, the Labour Party (LP) clarified that Ejiofor, who departed from the party around ten years ago, was brought into the struggle by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to take over the party’s leadership, as stated by the LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.

Since stepping down as the first National chairman of the LP over two decades ago, Ejiofor has not participated in any meetings or taken on any significant role within the party, according to the LP.

The LP emphasized the recent National Convention that resulted in the re-election of Julius Abure as National Chairman, with over 350 delegates in attendance, including prominent figures like the Governor of Abia state and members of various legislative bodies.

Despite the successful convention, a statement circulating on social media, purportedly from Comrade SOZ Ejiofor on behalf of the BoT, claimed leadership takeover, much to the surprise of the LP leadership.

The LP expressed sympathy for Ejiofor, mentioning that he has been absent from the political scene for over a decade and has not fulfilled the criteria to be an active member of the party.

The party reiterated its unawareness of any BoT’s existence, pointing out that the NLC has been advocating for the reconstitution of the BoT and the convening of the National Convention, but a significant number of the proposed BoT members have moved to other political parties or participated in other parties’ electoral activities.
