Fans and admirers of singer, Davido, are overjoyed as a day in the US has been dedicated to him.

The renowned Afrobeats artist, currently on a tour for his latest album, took over the city of Texas with a breathtaking performance at the Toyota Center in Houston.

As a result of the sold-out show, every July 7th has been earmarked as ‘Davido’s Day’ in Houston.

This information was revealed by the Mayor of the city, who praised Davido for his remarkable contributions to the music industry.

Davido’s rival, Wizkid, also has a day dedicated to him in the US

In 2018, the U.S. governor declared every October 6th as Wizkid Day.

This year undeniably brings recognition for Davido.

Davido reacts to being conferred a national honor award by the FG

In the previous month, Davido was honored with a national honor award by the federal government of Nigeria.

The government bestowed on Davido the title Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

On his Instagram story, Davido shared the list of other recipients of the same honor, highlighting his name.

The singer, who was grateful for the honor, captioned the post with his name, “David Adeleke OON,” along with the Nigerian flag.

His uncle, Ademola Adeleke, congratulated him for bringing pride to the Adeleke family and for being a great ambassador of Osun State.

In response, Davido expressed his gratitude to the Federal Government after receiving the National Honor.

Taking to his Instagram page, Davido thanked the government for the recognition and honor.

He emphasized that it has always been his mission to use his platform to showcase his country.

“I am honored to hear the news that I have been conferred with an OON (Officer of the Order of The Niger) by the Federal Government of Nigeria. I am grateful for this recognition and honor. It has always been my mission to use my platform to showcase our country – the passion, the resilience, the joy, the culture, and of course, the struggles of our people.
