The Iranian Army has announced a new closure of the Strait of Hormuz after denouncing the United States for “flagrant non-compliance” with the terms of the preliminary peace agreement agreed upon this week, having been unable to prevent the continuation of the Israeli offensive in Lebanon.
In a statement reported by the official Iranian radio and television, IRIB, the Army denounces that the United States has not complied with the first and fundamental point of the 14 that make up the memorandum of understanding: guaranteeing the cessation of Israeli operations in Lebanon, where Israeli bombings (according to the Israeli Army in response to Hezbollah attacks) have killed more than fifty people in 24 hours.
Thus, in response to “the relentless and continued violation of the ceasefire by the Zionist regime in southern Lebanon,” as well as “the brutal murder and displacement of hundreds of thousands of oppressed people from this land” and following the “refusal of the Zionist occupation forces to withdraw from the territories of southern Lebanon” (as stated on Friday by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz), “it is hereby announced that the Strait of Hormuz will be closed to maritime traffic.”
