I'll never mislead anyone intentionally – Funke Akindele apologizes over house party (video)

Funke Akindele has issued an apology after receiving backlash for hosting a house party for her husband, JJC Skillz, on his 43rd birthday on April 4.

The actress and her husband were criticized by social media users for holding a crowded party which included guests such as Naira Marley, Eniola Badmus, and Akpororo.

In a video, Akindele explained that most of the guests were their workers who had been stranded in their studio at Amen Estate after the closure of Lagos borders in compliance with President Buhari’s lockdown order on March 29. She clarified that Naira Marley, who is also part of their new production, was affected by the lockdown order, which was why he attended the birthday celebration.

Akindele acknowledged the criticism, apologized, and expressed support for the proactive measures of the Lagos State Government in curbing the spread of Coronavirus. She assured that they would abide by the recommended safety precautions.

In her statement accompanying the video, she thanked everyone for their concerns, well wishes, and honest feedback, urging them to stay safe. The video of her apology can be viewed below:
