Former Liverpool Star Nicol Urges Sale of Real Madrid Target, Alexander-Arnold

Steve Nicol, a former player of Liverpool, has suggested that the Reds should consider selling Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid. He is of the opinion that Conor Bradley surpasses Alexander-Arnold as a defender.

There has been growing speculation surrounding the 25-year-old Alexander-Arnold, whose contract is due to expire in 2025, and Real Madrid is reportedly interested in acquiring him.

Nicol contends that if Madrid were to propose a fee of £60-80 million for Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool should seize the opportunity to make a profit, given Bradley’s comparable talent.

Despite Alexander-Arnold’s impressive record of two goals and 10 assists in 29 matches this season, Nicol believes that Bradley’s defensive abilities outshine his own.

However, Nicol also recognized that the final decision would be influenced by the future manager’s strategic vision for the club.

“Regardless of your allegiance, Trent Alexander-Arnold lacks prowess in defense. If [Real] Madrid were to make an offer, let’s say, £60, £70, £80 million, and you have a talent like Conor Bradley, who is a far superior defender, excellent in attack, and on par with Trent,” Nicol shared with ESPN.

“Hence, it hinges on the forthcoming manager and if such a scenario would be feasible.”
