Army Commander Highlights Issues Affecting Operational Efficiency


Maj. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the Commander of the Nigerian Army’s Infantry Corps, has pointed out that outdated equipment, a lack of manpower, and inadequate welfare are impeding operational effectiveness in the fight against insecurity.

These observations were made during the General 2024 Combat Arms Training Week at the Infantry Corps Centre, Jaji Military Cantonment in Kaduna State.

He praised the Chief of Army Staff’s leadership approach in addressing these challenges and positioning the Nigerian Army to overcome present and future threats, describing it as a significant advancement in this area.

Lieut. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, reassured troops serving on various fronts that they would be duly recognized for their sacrifices in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

Addressing officers and soldiers at the commencement of the training, he emphasized the importance of professionalism, adherence to the law, and loyalty to the constitution in carrying out their duties.

Gen. Lagbaja emphasized the significance of comprehensive training at all levels to secure victory in battle, encouraging troops to freely share any ideas or suggestions that could enhance combat capabilities.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that soldiers receive appropriate benefits commensurate with their daily sacrifices under his leadership.
