Sharing his thoughts on Enyimba’s 1-0 win over Heartland, Enyimba’s technical adviser, Finidi George, expressed a mix of emotions, stating that he had anticipated more goals from his team in the match. The decisive goal came from Ekene Awazie.
Reflecting on the match, Finidi admitted to feeling concerned about the slim margin of victory, even though he acknowledged the tough challenge posed by Heartland. He praised his players for securing the win, describing it as a fitting birthday gift for himself, as he celebrated his 53rd birthday on April 15.
Commenting on the team’s performance, Finidi said, “It feels good to win games. We knew the game against Heartland would be tough due to their position on the table. We had numerous opportunities to score more goals, but there was a moment of anxiety when the visitors threatened to equalize.”
He further added, “I advised the boys to win the game as a birthday present to me, and I am pleased that they delivered as requested.” The victory propelled Enyimba to the second spot in the table with 51 points from 30 matches.
