Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Reports 1.4 Million UTME 2024 Candidates Scoring Below 200

The recently released results of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) revealed that out of the total 1,842,464 candidates, 1,402,490 individuals failed to achieve a score of 200 out of the possible 400 marks.

It was disclosed by JAMB that this number represented a significant 78% of all test takers.

Providing a detailed breakdown of the results, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, highlighted that 8,401 candidates reached or exceeded a score of 300, 77,070 candidates scored 250 and above, 439,974 candidates achieved a score of 200 and above, while a staggering 1,402,490 candidates fell below the 200 mark.

Prof. Oloyede also mentioned that the results of 64,624 candidates out of the total 1,904,189 who participated in the examination have been withheld by the board for further investigation.
